About Me

Here it is July of 2023.  It's taken a while to write the "About Me", but finally got around to it.  At this point in time, I'm winding down on a 15-year career with our local newspaper.  I can't say I've always loved the job.  Sometimes I have, sometimes not so much.
I can honestly say I've loved all the people I work with.  Friends, every single one.  I'll miss getting to go in each day and see them.  Working, joking, getting the job done and enjoying the camaraderie, it's hard to let go.  But it's time.

A year ago, I traded out of my full time position, and dropped to part time, mornings only.  There were some hiccups.  Tons of support from everybody at work, but it was hard for me to let go.  To this day, I still tend to work past my 'time to clock out'.  When I got home from work, it was to join Monique in selling things on eBay.  We've always sold whatever we can.  Mostly yard sale, thrift shop, and hand-me-down kinds of things. Early in 2023 I was selling some vintage magazines, and Monique realized there was a better market for the ads in the magazines, than for the magazines themselves. Since then I've been listing ephemera - specifically, the ads from vintage magazines.

It's been a lot of fun.  Since I work in the classified advertising department, a day in my life consists of "Selling ads at the paper, then going home and selling ads on eBay."  :^)

Monique and I have truly enjoyed eBaying in our afternoons this past year.  She's been dedicated to full-time eBaying for years (decades)... I needed time to grow into it.  At first, relaxing and enjoying the extra time at home held more of my attention.  Helping on eBay was a 'side thing.'  I was burned out and needed to recuperate.  Over time, I realized working together with Monique was great.  It was fun, relaxing, and highly enjoyable.  We laugh, talk through the day, ask each other's advice and opinions on things we're listing.  It feels like working a half-life, though... half day at the paper, half day at home.  I want to work full time with Monique.

We took the first week of July off, and focused on eBaying as intensely as possible for the whole week.  A trial run, to see how it worked, and how we worked.  It was a fabulous week, and worked out really well.  So... on August 11, 2023, I'll say goodbye to my long-time job at the paper, and Monique and I will say hello to a new life working together.

If you're curious about our eBay stores, there are two buttons on the left sidebar.
A Page Out of Time is mine, and Dixiebelle31 is Monique's.
Click on either to see what we're up to!

P.S. - If you're looking for a more personal "About Me":
I work (and play) all day on the computer.  I play the piano, mostly Southern Gospel.  Can't really read sheet music, but do alright playing by ear.  I have another blog, crewman6.com, (Grace Notes: Southern Styling on a Digital Piano).
My day begins with reading, and ends with reading.  Mostly sci-fi and fantasy, but other genres occasionally.  Monique and I usually watch either Master Chef Australia (working through the re-runs), or a tv series we can both agree on.

That's it for our daily grind.  :^)
