Cookie/Privacy Policy

Update:  I've changed my mind.  Will NOT be doing Adsense, nor eBay Partner Network, or Affiliate Sales.

I'm keeping the official disclaimers below just to make sure all the legal stuff is covered.  Even if I don't intend to be using cookies, trackers, and whatnot.  Because the laws are getting more confusing and scarier day by day.  Feels safer to keep all the legal stuff below.

After all, Google owns this blog, so it worries me that they may have trackers or cookies on this site that I'm not aware of.  Might as well keep the legal voodoo here just in case.

This Privacy Policy explains how the blog collects, uses, and discloses personal information through the website.

www.pageoutoftime.blogspot.com is a Google Blogger site.  I have an eBay store that's focused on ephemera.  This blog will feature items listed there; thoughts, comments, things that catch my attention or tickle my funny bone.  There will also be links to my eBay store (or my wife's store), directly to my listings, and and also links via the eBay Partner Network.

If you click those eBay links and once there, actually buy something, I will make a very tiny percent from the sale.  None of my listings are expensive enough to make more than a few cents per sale... but this blog is for my (and hopefully others) entertainment.  Any added income will be completely serendipitous.
If you don't want to potentially contribute to my next cup of coffee or, if I save up long enough, a banana split... make note of the listing you're curious about, open a new tab, and google the listing.  You may or may not find my eBay store that way, but will very likely find someone who's selling the item, and completely bypass my eBay Partner Network links.

You won't hurt my feelings... it's not like I'll be making anything significant here anyway.  It just seems efficient to combine my personal interests, with even a small percentage of added income.  This is primarily a hobby, for fun, and to help keep my mind active.  I enjoy writing, and love to share my opinions, so it's a great outlet, even if nobody actually reads it.  :^)

For the record, there's bigger profits to be had from eBay Partner Network (eBPN) if you're writing about more expensive items.  If you're thinking about using it yourself, visit the site and see the percentage paid vs item value tiers.

Now on to the actual cookie and privacy policy info:

Information Collection and Use

The website may collect personal information, such as your name, email address, and other contact information, when you voluntarily provide it through this website. This information is used to provide you with the services you have requested, respond to your inquiries, and improve the website.

It may also use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your use of this website, such as the pages you visit, the links you click, and other actions you take on the site. This information is used to understand how the website is being used and to improve the user experience.

The site uses (will use) Google Analytics but not Google Adsense. Google Analytics is a web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic. You may opt out by visiting the Google Ads Settings page in your Google account.

Other affiliates (if I add any) may collect data.  In the past I've used affiliate links on other blogs, but since this is an eBay-centric blog, I can't currently imagine any affiliates other than eBPN.  Unless I find something that adds honest value, it just wouldn't make sense to add random links willy-nilly.
If I find something sensible, I'll update this page.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

I do not share, sell, or rent personal information to third parties unless required by law.  I do not personally track or maintain any data about you.  The only thing I personally will know is whatever you feel like sharing if you drop me a comment or an email.  :^)

Cookies

This website uses cookies to improve the user experience and to understand how the site is being used. By using this website, you consent to the use of cookies in accordance with this Privacy Policy.  This is a Google-owned site, and Google tracks site statistics.  You can opt out through your Google account.  Google is very nice about it.  If you're not sure how, just Google the question and they'll step you through the process.

Affiliates
Full disclosure, if you click on any eBay links in this blog, and buy something as a result of clicking on the link, I might make a few cents from eBPN.  Maybe even more than a dollar, if you buy several items.  :^)

If you'd rather not be bothered, not see any ad links, and want a very simple option, I highly recommend a Browser Extension called NoScript.  I've used it for years.  It's very customizable, and you can choose not to allow ANY shenanigans, or you can allow All shenanigans, or you can be very selective and approve only certain things.  You can even allow a temporary approval that only lasts an hour.  That way I can permanently approve ads (scripts) on sites I trust and visit regularly, temporarily approve sites I trust but rarely visit,  and block scripts as thoroughly as I want on any other sites.

NoScript is a great extension, and it's free  (They accept donations!)  If you're interested, Google it.  (And... like the tv commercials for medicine, there's still a disclaimer ... these statements are my opinion only.  I cannot make guarantees nor accept responsibility for your decisions or for other entities.)

 Links to Other Websites

This blog may contain links to other websites that are not operated by me. If you click on a third party link, you will be directed to that third party's site. I strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every site You visit.

I have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.  I won't knowingly post or allow posting of any dangerous links, but it's ultimately your responsibility to choose what links to click, and to make sure they are appropriate to your needs and interests.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may change from time to time to reflect changes to information practices. If I make any material changes, this page will be updated.

The Use of WE, US, OUR... etc.
It was difficult to find a policy template that didn't make me sound snobbish.  I am not a WE, US, or OUR.  I am not a "YOUR COMPANY NAME."

I'm just me.  A guy nearing his mid-60's that likes to talk, and enjoys blogging and sharing my thoughts.  A guy that semi-retired mid-2022 for health reasons.  Monique and I sell on eBay.  We struggle to pay our bills, but always seem to make ends meet.

This website is for my own enjoyment.  So if, anywhere above, I've missed a royal "WE", or an imperial "US", it's not intentional.  I barely understand the whole 'cookie' and 'privacy' thing, and sure don't want the European government coming after me for not implementing their complicated policies. Nor California, for that matter.

To Big Brother:
Just a thought in case any big governmental entity or clandestine agency is tracking me here... guys, if you're going to make sweeping changes to the entire world, please include some how-to guides.  Not definitions.  Not just laws and penalties.  I'd really appreciate a practical, easy-to-understand, non-technical guide on how to do all these cookie consent widgets and junk. Maybe provide simple government-sponsored code/gadget that I can drop into my blog, so that I'll know beyond any question I'm being compliant with the requirements?
All I want to do is write a little blog, and maybe have it pay for itself.  A cup of coffee or a banana split now and then.  You've made it very difficult and scary for me to enjoy my small blogging dreams.

Or, instead of making each individual person go through heck trying to learn enough to stay out of trouble, why not make the companies who WRITE the cookies build notifications into their cookies???
Why must I act as law enforcement, security agency, and oversight committee... isn't that your job??
As things are, I can't find real help without signing up for a membership and/or paying for someone else to fix and maintain the cookie consent stuff.  I'm already not making money, I can't afford to pay even more to 'not make money'.

Sorry, rant over.  If you've read this far, THANK YOU for reading!
